Description
The Global Antico Dry HCl Gas Generation Plant is a purpose-engineered continuous process system for the production of anhydrous, high-purity hydrogen chloride gas from commercially available hydrochloric acid (30–33% w/w). The core process employs the calcium chloride azeotrope-breaking route, wherein concentrated CaCl₂ solution is used to displace hydrogen chloride from its water azeotrope — enabling dehydration without energy-intensive distillation columns. Feed acid is preheated and introduced to a packed stripping column, where CaCl₂ counter-current flow drives the HCl toward the gas phase. The raw HCl gas stream then passes through a multi-stage drying train comprising sulphuric acid desiccant towers and molecular sieve beds, progressively reducing moisture content to below 10 ppm — making the gas suitable for anhydrous chemical reactions.
The dried HCl stream undergoes a final polishing stage to remove traces of chlorine, organic carry-over, and particulates before delivery to downstream process users or cylinder filling systems. All wetted parts — columns, vessels, piping, and instrumentation — are constructed from corrosion-resistant materials including FRP, PTFE-lined steel, Hastelloy C-276, and titanium, selected based on concentration and temperature exposure. An inline purity analyzer (typically FTIR or process GC) provides continuous gas quality verification with automated feed control logic. The plant is available in capacities from 50 to 5,000 kg/hr HCl gas, in both skid-mounted modular format and stick-built site installation, with full PLC-SCADA automation, ATEX-compliant electrical design, and an integrated HCl tail-gas scrubber for emission compliance.
