The Global Antico Nitric Acid Purification System is a specialist distillation and chemical treatment plant designed to upgrade crude or process-grade nitric acid to pharmaceutical, analytical, and electronic chemical purity. Crude HNO₃ typically contains dissolved nitrogen oxides (NOx: NO, NO₂, N₂O₃), dissolved metals from equipment contact, chloride impurities, and residual organic contaminants. The purification process begins with a sparging/denitrification stage, in which purified air or oxygen is bubbled counter-currently through the acid column, stripping dissolved NOx from the liquid phase. The released NOx off-gas is captured in a dedicated alkaline scrubber system for abatement before atmospheric venting.
The acid then undergoes precision distillation in a borosilicate glass or PTFE-lined column under controlled temperature and pressure conditions, separating HNO₃ from water and non-volatile impurities at target concentration (65–70%). A metal polishing stage using ion exchange resin or selective precipitation reduces residual heavy metal concentrations (Fe, Cr, Pb, Ni, Cu) to sub-50 ppb levels required for electronic and pharmaceutical applications. All wetted surfaces are constructed from borosilicate glass, high-purity quartz, PTFE, or SS 316L. The complete plant is equipped with NOx gas detectors, automated emergency ventilation, and pressure relief on all vessels. Output purity is verified by inline UV spectrophotometry and periodic ICP-MS analysis, with full batch release documentation for pharmaceutical GMP compliance.
